A little about us and what we do

Rescuing cats is is a costly ordeal, rescuing cats that have been abandoned and injured is even a larger and more costly undertaking than we had ever anticipated, but it's something that has got to be done. We only have so much money to work with and the expenses are far greater than we ever dreamed so we turn to people who love cats to ask for contributions so that we have the resources to bring health and a comfortable life back to cats that would have otherwise been euthanized or would have died due to their injuries and or heath.

UPDATE 12.12.2012

This is Lilmama again.  Just want to give you an update on our family.  Since we started the Astride’s Lilmama Kittie Retreat, more health issues have become severe. 

As life would have it, Penelope did not make it to Thanksgiving.  Penelope’s kidneys gave out and Astride had to put her down.   We are all saddened by Penelope leaving us and the suffering she endured.

We hope that will not happen again as now, we have several kitties that have stomatitis caused by the calicivirus.   And the worst cases are waiting at the vet’s to have their teeth removed.  This is the only way to to handle this health issue, as there is no cure for this virus which attacks the gums , teeth and mouth.  This is a 3 hour surgery and very costly.  These kitties will always be part of our kittie family as adoptive parents want healthy kitties.  The vet bill is getting larger every day.

If it wasn’t for our rescue vet, the most severe cases would not be taken care of.  Thank you Dr Leis for caring about the kitties and having faith in Astride to raise the money for these surgeries. 

And, we still have family members that are dealing with digestive issues, which Dr Leis is helping with, also.

We, all, have one wish for Christmas.  Astride and us kitties, are wishing for the resourses to have these severe health issues taken care of.   Then we can help others that have severe health issues.
